SAGEMCOM 2864: Bridged Modem Setup

Problem
You are adding a security router or firewall to your network but require your security device to be public facing and to perform the necessary security functionality and not the ISP’s modem.

Solution
Perform the following steps to setup a Sagemcom 2864 in bridge mode. will disable the advanced features of the Sagemcom modem (wireless, firewall, etc.) and is only recommended for advanced users

  1. Login using the default username and password. (admin for both)
  2. Click on the Wireless link. Left hand side of page
  3. Select Disable for Primary Wireless Network and Guest Wireless Network.
  4. Click the Save button.
  5. Click on the Network link. Left hand side of page
  6. Select Disable for DHCP Status.
  7. Click the Save button.

Optional (Not required but could help)

  1. Click the Internet link. Left hand side of page
  2. Click on the Internet tab. Top of page
  3. Clear the User ID and Password fields.
  4. Click the Save button.

At this point you can add your security device to the first ethernet port  with the necessary information to pass your inside traffic out. The modem is bridged and will pass all communications through transparently.
